Why I left Islam – Core Issues

These are the main issues I found with Islam.  If you want to understand the real problems I found, start here.

 Reflections

Dialogues and discussions I had after leaving Islam.  Some thoughts

Rulings/Fiqh

These are not why I left Islam.  They are reflections after leaving Islam.  Keep in mind that even if I was completely wrong about every single one of these, it would not make me come back to Islam.  As a Secular Humanist, I find these to be troubling issues we find and they seem to show that Allah is not the intelligent supreme being that sent us a beautiful wise religion but rather a 7th century invention with barbaric rules and orders that matched that early era but do not belong in today’s world.

Introduction
Hamza Tzortzis is a highly regarded and popular Islamic apologist. Hamza uses moral philosophy to justify the existence of Allah. Here, we are going to dissect one of his articles to show how he does that. By analyzing his article, we will shed light on the characteristics of his Allah. Then, with the help of the Quran and the Sunnah, we will examine if, according to the Islamic creed, the Allah of Islam has the same characteristics as that of Hamza’s. To do so, first we need to understand Hamza’s article thoroughly. I would ask the reader to go through his article from the beginning to the end several times. Now, let’s understand Hamza’s Allah.

Response to Muslim Convert on “Islam Gives You Security and Peace”

We often hear that ex-Muslims leave Islam for emotional reasons. I want to challenge that. I’ve been having a back and forth on TikTok with a Muslim convert with a large following who has been engaging with a few ex-Muslims.

Cactusboi whose real name is Paul made a video sharing that he became Muslim after suffering from some issues. I responded to this video about this pattern that I’ve noticed – how a large number of prominent Muslim converts appear to have converted due to a crisis in their life namely Hamza Yusuf, Cat Stevens, Asadullah Ali, and even Mustafa Omar on the dean show and not because of a rational calculation based on evidence. When Friends Become Foes – The Cost of Leaving Islam

People sometimes wonder when you left Islam were people trying to kill you. No, for me it wasn’t like that. People weren’t trying to kill me. I had all different types of people trying to help me. I was well known in the community as a convert because I converted from Ismailism right. So I had a ton of friends everybody loved me. They were trying to help me to come back to Islam. (more…)

Cactusboi leaves Islam and Muslim TikTok freaks out

We are now seeing how fickle the Muslim community’s support and “love” is. They went from fawning over a Muslim convert to hating him in a matter of days. We are seeing that Islam is a one-way street. Once you enter, you can’t leave it. Or you can…but at great risk. We’re seeing how conditional the Muslim community’s love is. But I already knew that. I went from beloved to hated in a matter of weeks over leaving Islam. But this isn’t about me.
