These are not why I left Islam.  They are reflections after leaving Islam.  Keep in mind that even if I was completely wrong about every single one of these, it would not make me come back to Islam.  As a Secular Humanist, I find these to be troubling issues we find and they seem to show that Allah is not the intelligent supreme being that sent us a beautiful wise religion but rather a 7th century invention with barbaric rules and orders that matched that early era but do not belong in today’s world.

Grief and Loss in Islam

As hard as it may be to imagine, every single person watching this video will experience loss at some point in their life. Maybe you already have, or perhaps you are looking for a resource to feel validated and understood. Perhaps you are tired of the same Islamic platitudes served to you when you try to open up about your loss. Muslims may say things like, “they are in a better place now.” Maybe Islam shattered your faith after your loss, and you feel like the pain inflicted on you was so great, there is no going back to Islam.

Interview with Exmuslim Convert Al-Muealim

For this episode, I was joined by an Ex-Muslim convert Al-Muealim. Al-Muealim was a pentecostal Christian up to the age of 18 then he converted to Islam for about seven years. He later left Islam and is now an agnostic atheist and he is interested in the academic analysis of the origins of various religions. Al-Muealim was gracious enough to share with us his journey from Christianity to Islam then to losing faith. (more…)
